Let's Hear It For The Boys!

Shocking. There’s not a word that I can find better for the ‘performance’ in last night’s match. Wigan Athletic a team of men, lost 3-0 against an Arsenal team made up of their youth team.

It’s great for a neutral spectator. The future of football is looking great and all that. How many of their players where actually English though? Not many but Jay Simpson and Jack Wilshere look great prospects for England. But whether or not they’ll ever get anywhere in Aresne Wenger’s foreign legion of a first team, is another matter.

As for the match? Arsenal deserved to win but we defiantly contributed to their win. Our players just didn’t close down and put pressure on their youngsters. Our set-pieces where utter shite. We should have been out-muscling these kids but we didn’t and we got spanked.

The players lacked any passion and didn’t look arsed. Chris Kirkland, who made some blinding saves, was the only one to come out of the match with any credit.

Maybe if the match was played at the JJB it would have been different. But all credit to Arsenal for providing rock-bottom prices for a Carling Cup match. Their fans where definitely the 13th man for them, with ref their 12th man after he didn’t give Latics a penalty, for a blatant handball, when the score was 1-0! Latics could learn a lot - £15 to watch Latics play Notts County? We’re a joke on and off the pitch, I’m afraid.

So how does this translate to our league form? Hopefully we can improve from here because we can’t sink any lower. Can we?
