Swine Flu - We've Seen It All Before!

Anyone getting worried? The latest person being testing at Manchester Airport, 150-odd dead in Mexico and people being tested all over Europe. It's probably nothing but you watch all these selfish people panic, thanks to the circus that is the media.

In fact I’m more worried about just that! When we had a fuel strike, people panic bought petrol, so that others are left without. The same went when the strike escalated and effected supermarket deliveries, with people panic buying food - selfish (and stupid!) bastards! It should be interesting to see people’s reactions though, if this problem escalates. That’ll tell you all you need to know about society today.

Although being a science fiction/horror fan, the last week or so has been very exciting! Some of the plots behind those classic disease-ridden films have being coming reality! It does give me some pride in seeing that the writing wasn't that bad after all!

Have a look at the British television series ‘Survivors’, which has just been recently remade from Terry Nation’s original 1970’s series. The series delves into the story of how a world-wide flu pandemic has affected nine-tenths of the world’s population. Its quite scary stuff if you compare this fiction to the reality of what’s happening now! I just hope that the second series isn’t delayed because of the nature of its premise!

I’m sure you know the plots of most zombie-style films, with some ranging from the complete ridiculous (an electric surge causing people to turn into the living dead) to far more plausible reasons (an infection). I’m not saying people will turn into the living dead and start eating your brain or anything but this sudden panic from the media has reminded me of those films and I chuckle to myself wondering how they would report something like that, when they can cause countrywide panic with the words – ‘Fuel Strike’!

But I’m going to see where the nearest shooting range is, just in case this swine flu causes the living dead to rise again and I’m required to shoot them in the head! Hopefully they won’t.

Or maybe I shouldn’t dip my toast into my milk at night? I think it gives me funny dreams!

Either that, or you have been watching too many horror movies lately. (Possibly?)
